Oh the places you’ll eat! — Tiny Spoon Chef

It’s no secret that the roadways between Boston, Cape Cod and Westport CT are becoming pretty familiar. As we round the end of July, we’re both shocked and also excited for all the things that are happening!

The ample road time has led us to have many chats about our fave “high foods,” “low foods,” and road snacks.

Me? High food: Duck liver paté. Low food: Lay’s Cheddar Poppables.

It’s been a while since we’ve shared some of our favorite eats so we decided today’s the day to share delectable treats around all 3 (eek!) of our home bases.

Here’s what’s fueling our fervor these days!

Boston Area

There’s no better morning road treat than a goodie from The Donut Stand in Southborough.

It’s well worth the drive, or a detour if you’re anywhere vaguely in the area. Mike & Hannah have it just right… with not-too-sweet doughs and perfectly creative toppings and fillings.

Huron Village in Cambridge is a total gem.

It makes our heart sing any time we find ourselves there, but our go-to is EH Chocolatier where Elaine and Catherine make chocolates, bonbons & treats that are both classic and unexpected.

Their caramelized white chocolate bar with cacao nibs is the only white chocolate I’ve ever loved! Whenever I’m looking for something unusual to give I look to this dynamic duo - they get my aesthetic jam, too… it’s always wrapped with effortless beauty.

This way for swoon-worthy proof!

Cape Cod

PB Boulangerie is a well-known and well-loved favorite of Cape Cod locals and vacationers.

When I’m feeling “healthy”, I can buy pastries like their spinach and feta and pretend the green inside balances out the buttery, flaky goodness on the outside. Step inside a little farther and find biscuits in tins from France, specialty oils & vinegars, and even duck legs confit in cans. Yes. In cans! This place always has a line for a reason.

Peep all the tasty treats!

Friends and family know that I’m a soft ice cream snob - I learned at a young age that perfectly soft ice cream was WAY better than the hard stuff (although I do enjoy that, too!).

Hidden away at the side of the Sickday Surf Shop is Gelato Joy Cafe.

This tiny jewel box has homemade gelato and sorbet that is, frankly, some of the best I’ve had in the US, and trust me, I am an eater!

I may be a sucker for the small spoons they serve it with, but just try the roasted almond gelato. You’ll agree that it’s definitely something special!

Proceed with caution, their Instagram is likely to make you hop in the car for a gelato adventure

Do you ever just walk into a cafe and feel like everyone there is connected to what they do?

Then you’d really love Relish in Provincetown.

It’s not-your-average breakfast and lunch spot! There are creative sandwiches and salads with options for vegetarians and vegans beyond your typical veggie wraps. The big jars of cookies draw you in, but the warm and friendly staff lets you know you’re in the right spot. They’re just the place to grab all the goods for your road-warrior lunch in a pinch.

Gawk at their goods!

Westport

Okay, so we’re still learning about CT but we’re delighted to report we’ve found some gems so far!

When Jared went to Kneads Bakery & Cafe for breakfast he immediately told me I had to go back with him - and by that he meant later that day.

Even the classic breakfast sandwich is made superior on homemade croissants with the addition of whole grain mustard, local cheddar and crispy shallots. Now, basically, whenever we have to have a meeting we’re going here instead of our office - and giving ourselves time to eat. Go give them a follow!

Our taste buds were thrilled to stumble upon the cold sesame noodles from Little Kitchen.

They were the perfect meal on a hot summer day! The bright red walls and trendy atmosphere gave us the sensation of a night “on the town”. We can’t wait to dive into their fare again when we’re next in town.

Take a gander at the menu!

Right next door to Little Kitchen is the tried & true, Gold’s Deli.

Looking for an unfussy classic brisket sandwich? Gold’s Deli has you covered. We love the traditional no frills atmosphere and the history (it’s been around since 1958!) The truest test we know for a deli is the pandemonium that descends during lunch hour and man, Gold’s passed the test big time.

Check out their fare!
