Tiny Spoon Chef & Client Expectations

(shouldn’t all relationships be this clear??)

Thanks for contacting TSC!

We’ve put together a simple info page to answer basic questions and tell you about what we do. Please keep in mind that every client is a new opportunity for us!
Let’s figure out what would bring the best to your daily life.

Getting Started:

We ask that you commit to 4 visits to get to know you.

We’re going to work with your feedback and we want you to see our magic, which lies in the relationship we form with you. After that, we keep you on the calendar in your regular time slot unless you cancel a week - you’re the cruise director of the schedule. It's simple, we work with you to create the menu, we do the shopping, the cooking, and the clean-up! Leaving you time to enjoy your life!

We communicate best via email. We are caregivers, and, here’s a secret - we are note-takers, too! Please email your chef and team@tinyspoonchef.com with your feedback or questions. We love it! This helps us make sure that we remember your brand of coffee and that your child only likes red grapes

What kind of commitment do you need?

Cancellation Policy

You can take a week or two off at any time with 10-days written notice to team@tinyspoonchef.com. There is no charge and we’re happy to hear about your travels when you come back!

Cancellations made within 10 days of your scheduled visit are subject to a $300 cancellation fee.

Extended Vacations

If you would like to take a break of more than 2 weeks, we will gladly take you off the calendar and welcome you back, however, we cannot hold your weekly time slot or space with your preferred chef. When you return, we will let you know what is available on the calendar and accommodate you, of course! If you’d like to hold your day/time/chef, please email us about our optional holding fee.

You can always “gift” your service to a friend or family member, too! (You will surely be popular!)

Safety & Precautions

Food Safety

Any meal with animal protein is meant to be fully consumed in 4-5 days. We handle your food thoughtfully, keeping timing and temperature in consideration. Meals that you would like frozen should be moved to the freezer, when fully fridge-cold, on day 1 (not day 4/5). A general rule of thumb is to consider any time outside of “fridge temperature” to be like a clock. Health code considers 4 hours outside of this range of cold temperature to be unsafe. If you have questions about food handling, please let us know.

When we leave your home we assume no responsibility for what you determine is safe for you and your family.

(Don’t leave fish on the counter all day and then eat it…we can guarantee you won’t feel well.)

COVID-19 Protocols

What a time! Everyone on the TSC team is vaccinated and fully boosted. We are also happy to wear N95 masks in your home. It’s just how we’re getting through this - we’d rather be with you, safely, than not be with you!

**Please let us know, 24 hours prior to our arrival, if someone is unwell or has Covid-19 and we will make other arrangements to support you and keep our community safe**

What to expect from us:

Your bespoke menu will be sent no later than Friday for the following week.

Please review and let us know if you have questions or you’d like to make changes. You are also welcome to make requests or share recipes or favorite books with us. We want to make it perfect for you!

We’ll ask you where (and how) you would like us to shop.

Do you prefer organic groceries, conventional pantry items or specific brands? Please let us know how you’d shop for yourself and we’ll follow suit! We are happy to use your meat-share or CSA vegetables, too.

What does a visit look like?

We will be at your home for 3-4 hours depending on the menu and your requests. We will work from your pantry items and purchase anything else we need to make the day work best. Expect everything to be healthy, delicious and just as you like it. As we get to know you, we’ll gain efficiency in knowing your kitchen and also in knowing what you really like!

Do I have to be home?

Nope! We need to be able to get to the kitchen, but we are happy to be “food elves!”

Let us treat you like a VIP.

We are going to leave you with amazing smells, food, simple instructions and the occasional treat - that’s it! We bring our own towels, hand wash, dry, and put everything away that we cook with. We will also take out the trash, label everything with dissolvable labels (no sticky gunk!), and place receipts for any food we’ve purchased for you on the counter.

You’ll have the same chef each week.

We’re going to match you with the best fit for you and your crew, but you will be supported by the creative passion of a team - remember, you’re in control of the schedule and can take a visit off at any time, but otherwise, we’re going to care for you and it’s seamless. If your chef is unable to personally support you for some reason, don’t worry - you’re part of our community and friends help friends!

What we expect from you:

We ask that menus are approved at least 2 days prior to your visit.

This means questions, edits, and special requests should happen before this time so we can finalize ideas 48 hours in advance. *If we have not heard from you 48 hours in advance, we will prepare for your visit with the menu as we proposed it to you.

Changes within 48 hours in advance cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to accommodate. Please expect to be billed for this last-minute time, which is complimentary if done in advance.

Need groceries?

Leave us a list or tell us what you like to keep your pantry and fridge stocked… lists should be clearly left for us on the counter for our arrival or emailed the night prior to your visit, please.

Please be ready for us.

We need to know that you’re chef-ready, can you help? That means the sink and counter should be clean and there should be space in the fridge for us to stash your treasures. We need immediate access to your home & kitchen, access to cleaning supplies, an extra garbage bag and dish soap, please.

Give us feedback.

No, really. We want to know what would be purrrrrfect. What are the little things that would make your life dreamy - don’t be shy! Would you like one of your meals to be freezer-friendly?  That’s totally easy for us to do. If you’re not 100% thrilled it’s because we’re not clear on how to make you happy, so let’s just talk that out!

How do I pay Tiny Spoon Chef?

When you did your intake survey you entered in your credit card number for billing. Our automated system puts charges through the next day and kicks you back a receipt. Easy & peasy!

Fun stuff:

We’d be thrilled to do a full service event for you.

There’s a lot of flexibility in weekly service, but if you ever want to dial it up with a 10 course wine dinner or an apps grazing party, let us know and we’re there for it!

We’re a friends-of-friends kind of place.

Do you know that for almost 10 years we didn’t use paid advertising at all? When you tell a friend about your fab chef and they sign up for service, we give your chef a $500 bonus. YEP! (They love referrals because friends of terrific people are, well, terrific!) We love it if you tag us on social media, too.

Find us on social media.

We do fun giveaways, share recipes and you get to nerd out with our chefs… if you’re doom scrolling, you should be doom scrolling with us.
